Paint-On Critique with Ron Wilson

Do you have any tired old paintings that just haven't worked out for you?  Let Ron Wilson "fix" or paint on them before you burn them on the beach ( not encouraged).

Date:  Wed June 15th

Time:  10am - 12:30pm

Cost:  $20

Supplies:  One small oil or acrylic painting that you have given up on,  4x4 - 12x16

Morris Gallery invites dissatisfied artists to bring one small oil or acrylic painting for our international artist Ron Wilson to paint-on to show you what COULD be.  The paintings should be beyond redemption in your opinion - either you're stuck or you have given up on these would be treasures.  It also goes without saying that you will let Ron re-work them in front of you.  It's called a Paint-On Critique, an idea by Ted Goerschner.  www.morrisgallery.ca/workshops

Workshops and Demos in May at Morris Gallery

Landscape Painting in Acrylic with Jim McFarland

Date: Wed May 25th
Time: 7 - 9 pm
Cost: $20

Jim McFarland will demonstrate the method of painting a landscape en plein air while using acrylic paints.  It is required for an outdoor painter to work fast especially while using acrylics as they face the constantly changing and dynamic world around them.  Jim demonstrates the need to maintain the superior vision we have as artists over the images that can be produced with a camera.

Please email lance@morrisgallery.ca to sign up

Fused Glass with Pauline Olesen

Tetiana Zakharova

Tetiana Zakharova for the first time has her work on display in Victoria, BC at Morris Gallery.
Check her page on our website to view more of her work and stop by the Gallery to see the exhibit on until April 30th.  www.morrisgallery.ca/artists/tetiana-zakharova
Tetiana is amazed and inspired by the spectacular Pacific Northwest whenever she hikes through the rain forest, watches each unique sunset over the ocean or travels through the B.C. Interior. Nature is plentiful in its gifts of beauty and Tetiana yearns to capture that perfect and blissful scene and transpose it onto canvas.
She observes the world around her in search for unique angles and unreal color combinations to create a disposition of nature in her paintings; as in, a sort of mood that the paintings should bring to the audience.
As she starts each new painting, her heart leaps with joy as she fathoms the beauty that is yet to emerge from her imagination. But beauty is subjective; therefore, Tetiana tries to leave a segment of her art open to interpretation. Part of this can be seen in the near absence of clearly separating lines and boarders in her works. This lets the audience create these lines and is a vital part of her "disposition of nature” as it lets each individual’s unique mind create such lines and boarders and differently interpret the painting’s mood.
Tetiana tries to instill both drama and tranquility of natural landscapes by injecting fluidity, depth and emotion into each image. Her goal is to touch others emotionally and positively through her art; as well, to delve all the different ideas and sceneries in her own mind, for her own enjoyment.
